Jimmy’s On The Mall – Restaurant Review

Wandering along the pedestrian strip of Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall, Barry and I were in search of food in the mid afternoon. There’s only a three or four hour time difference between Singapore and Queensland but our eating habits were still a little off and we were having trouble finding a place to eat in the wasteland between the standard lunch times and before the dinner service.

Jimmy’s On the Mall, run by the awesome Simon Hawkins, fit the bill perfectly. It’s open and serving food 24 hours a day, perfect for newly arrived jet lagged citizens. This is no take away kebab shop though. Jimmy’s is an open air restaurant with a few separate dining options with differing menus.

We sat on the upper balcony level, with a gentle breeze, watching the poor folk who had to work, make their way past, hurrying to the next meeting. The menu is varied, there should be something for everyone. The portions are large and even sharing with Barry with couldn’t finish it all.

The recommended Affumicata Pizza had a light, crispy base and fresh toppings.

The Thai Chicken Salad was full of flavour. Although not particularly spicy, we enjoyed the mustard and ginger flavours. The ruby grapefruit was refreshing.

We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. Jimmy’s On the Mall is a good choice for variety and people watching, at any time of the day.

We were guests of Jimmy’s On the Mall but all opinions are our own and nobody from the company reviewed or approved the text.

  1. Perhaps you should write a review on customer service at this restaurant! My 5 year old nephew who is wheelchair bound was discriminated against at this restaurant recently and numerous efforts to address this issue have been ignored by Jimmy’s on the Mall. They have gone as far as deleting comments on Facebook rather than address their extremely poor customer service. Avoid this place if you are in any way incapacitated or if you want basic and civil treatment

    • Wow, that’s very disappointing. I didn’t have any problems with the service but it appears your experience was very different. I guess the upstairs area might be difficult for accessibility but I’m sure the two downstairs areas would have been able to accommodate. I understand there have been some management changes recently so perhaps this had something to do with it. Hopefully they rectify this soon!
